Cybercrime is a growing concern for businesses and governments worldwide. The total economic damage from cybercrime was estimated to be $575 billion in 2016 and could reach $2 trillion by 2021.

The severity of this issue has led to the proliferation of cyber security solutions, such as encryption and data protection tools, but these can be costly and time-consuming to implement. This blog post will explore some strategies that help keep your company secure without breaking the bank or sacrificing productivity.

Cybercrime has become an epidemic, costing the global economy billions of dollars every year. How do I know if my company is at risk?

You can't stop the cyber attacks that target your company if you don't know how to protect yourself. Threat intelligence can help companies stay ahead of the threats by gathering and analyzing data about threats in their environments and understanding how to apply the tools and approaches to effectively address them.

Intruders can start a cyber attack from anywhere, but there are methods to protect your organization that can help:  1. Use encryption to protect critical data  Encryption is a type of data security that scrambles and masks data so that only the legitimate owner of that data can read it. Encryption is an effective defense against many forms of cyber attacks, including ransomware, a type of malware that encrypts important files and then demands a ransom to release them.

Why does cybercrime happen?

Organizations are exposed to increasing threats. Every year, cyberattacks on businesses grow more sophisticated. Businesses and governments alike are looking for new ways to combat cyberthreats. However, keeping up with this increase in sophistication is expensive, especially for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Companies are increasingly finding themselves exposed to cybercrime because they do not have the resources to combat it effectively. This is due to a multitude of factors, including resource constraints and a lack of training. Even though some companies are using technology to fight cybercriminals, they lack the expertise and resources to keep up.

Digital World and Cybersecurity

What is cybersecurity? Cybersecurity describes the protection of data in the digital world, a rapidly growing area of security which also encompasses the security of digital networks, the systems and technologies used to deliver services and communication, as well as the applications that run on them.

How does this relate to my personal finances? Data breaches and cyber attacks are having a detrimental effect on your finances. A survey of more than 7,000 professionals from organizations in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia conducted by cybersecurity firm SonicWall found that 30 percent of them experienced a cyber attack in 2016. This can have a real impact on your ability to manage your finances.
